Located immediately across from Trinity Park, 901 Queen Street West is named after downtown’s biggest park, a popular gathering place for skinny jean hipsters, off leash puppies, strollers and bikes.
Trinity Park Lofts is a boutique loft, seven storeys tall with only 102 suites. Canada Equity and Development Corp built 901 Queen St West in 2003 from the ground up wrapping around the historic Farr House. Its brick cladding and architecture resemble a 19th century warehouse and harmoniously blend in with the neighbouring shops and restaurants that line Queen Street West. There are two retail shops on the ground floor between the buildings entrance which are privately owned. There are strict rules about the stores to make sure their noise or smells don’t interfere with the owner’s enjoyment.
The building offers a superintendent and a part time concierge. The gym is small but slowly over time, equipment has been added and is good enough for a quick workout. There’s a modest party/meeting room with a walkout to a peaceful inner courtyard. The lack of amenities helps keep the maintenance fees down. The halls are pretty memorable, I can’t forget the cheetah carpeting.
The majority of the suites in 901 Queen Street West are two storey one bedrooms, ideal for a single person first time buyer. Every suite except for those on the ground floor is two storeys. This make the suites feel more ‘home’ like. It’s rare to have 600 square feet on two levels but it works and gives this boutique building a truly unique feeling. Because of this design, hallways are only on every second floor, pretty cool idea to maximize living space.
Most kitchens have a peninsula style layout that offers a breakfast bar and extended kitchen cabinets. The ceilings are 9 feet on the main floor and warehouse style windows. The bathrooms are located on the second floor of most suites. The main floors are laminated and carpeted with sisal carpeting on the second floor. There are a few suites as big as 1500 sq ft on the penthouse level. Some rare suites offer terraces with gas bbq hookups and desirable views of Trinity Park.
