Westside Gallery Lofts is an 18 storey building with 135 suites in the heart of the Art and Design District. The first three floors of the building is Artscape Triangle Lofts, subsidized housing for artists. South facing views feature views of Liberty Village. Residents can walk to the Drake and Gladstone Hotel.
The developer, Urbancorp was trying to pull off modern minimalism meets raw industrial. Suites are finished with exposed concrete walls, ceilings and floors, exposed ductwork and conduit. The finished execution is pretty ugly. I’ve seen some original units in this building and I’m not a fan. Exposed ductwork ok, but conduits and exposed plumbing is too much, the suites feel unfinished to me and feel like a World War 2 bunker. Ceiling heights vary per floor, all are 9 ft except the 7th and 8th floor which are 10 ft.
Privacy in the suites is not great, the drywall separating the bedroom and living room are only 7 ft. Kitchens are galley layout and could use more counter space. A kitchen island could help make the kitchens more efficient. The cabinetry is Scavollini and the kitchen appliances are stainless steel. Some owners have refinished the suites to their liking. A popular renovation is adding laminate floors and it has helped warm up the suits in the building.
The building has an indoor pool, guest suites, a gym and guest suite. Copyright BigGuideToCondos.com
