The last thing the city needs is another tall, sleek, all glass tower... yawn! 109 Oz attempts to break this mold and is offering some engaging architecture for a design savvy crowd. The six storey building with 85 suites, swings back and forth, creating different angles and distinct identities as it goes up a level. The exterior reminds me of the popular game Jenga, but not as tall.
With pop art colours like tangerine orange, canary yellow, and fushia, even the lobby of 109Oz is challenging the conventional interiors we see in most cookie cutter condos.
109 Ossington Ave is targeting the first time buyers in their twenties and thirties that want to live in a vibrant neighbourhood and consider themselves as alternative. Its located is hipster heaven; Ossington is the main drag for resto bars, coffee houses, live music, art galleries, fashion bouiques, yog studios, spas. Trinity Bellwoods is five minutes walk and is another popular hipster hangout.
Suites sizes are respectable and range in size from 504 sq ft to 1,160 square feet. The majority of suites are approximately 600 sq ft, so the building is catering to single professionals.
The suites were designed by II by IV, they’re open concept with many one bedroom s with interior bedrooms, no windows and the bedroom and living room are separated by a glass door. The ceilings are nine feet and ten feet ceilings on five and six with exposed concrete ceilings. The floor to ceilings windows as helps to create a bright and airy effect.
Kitchens are outfitted with modern, European style cabinetry, an oversized islands made of stone or quartz countertops (this feature really increases workspace). In the bathroom the tiles are glass mosaic, and showerheads are rain style and the bathtubs are deep soaker.
To keep maintenance fees down, 109 Ossgington Ave has a concierge and a terrace on the second floor covering the main drag with a dining and lounge option.
Engaging architecture and a vibrant neighbourhood during the day or night, 109oz has got a lot going for it.
