Panorama is a part of the Cityplace master planned community. Unlike the rest of the square box condos in the Cityplace community, Panorama was designed elliptical in shape. The egg shaped foot print allowed the builder to make best use of the lot between Lakeshore Blvd and the Gardiner Expressway. The extra efforts by the builder to build 38 Dan Leckie Way on a curve paid off, residents enjoy 180 degree views that they woundn’t have in a straight line building and they get bigger balconies and terraces.

Just like the exterior, the interiors that were designed by Mike Niven were pretty trend setting at the time. Baby blue kitchen cabinetry mixed with shiny black or white cabinetry, round kitchen hood fans descending from the ceiling, and full height kitchen pantry units are very Euro-style modern. Many of the suites have interior bedrooms (bedroom with no window) which is not always popular with all buyers. I find the living room area too small in some of the one bedroom units and the kitchens lack enough storage. The combo washer and dryers save space but makes laundry twice as long. The ground floor suites have immediate exterior access which is ideal for a professional running a home based business like an accountant or interior designer etc. Also ideal for dog owners who want to frequently take their dog out.

With the lake nearby, water serves as a design inspiration for the lobby. The soft curves, bubble lighting and metal canopy that suggests a roof of seaweed in the lobby, it’s meant to feel like you’re underwater.

Panoroma’s closest neighbour is the Gardiner Expressway. To minimize the noise from the highway, the architect, Page and Steele designed thicker exterior walls and window panes to reduce interior sound levels. Developers also had to conduct air quality studies.

Outdoor amenities include an 8th level roof top with hot tub, outdoor bar and alfresco fireplaces. Indoor amenities include a mini theatre, 2 guest suites, gym, his and her sauna, party room, cards room, private dining room, internet lounge, massage lounge with massage chairs, billiards, bar/lounge, conference boardroom and rock climbing wall.

My favourite feature of 38 Dan Leckie way is the tuck shop on the ground floor. T.O Tuck Shop is a gourmet “convenience store” that serves all your emergency household products, chips, candy, chocolates and soda. They prepare pizza, sandwiches like pulled pork or steak, breakfast, coffee, soup and gelato. They can also deliver.
