Lago is a skinny 49 storey tower on the shores of the Etobicoke waterfront. Lago means lake in Italian, and the developer Monarch Group designed the edges of the building on an angle so the wrap around balconies can take advantage of the lake and city views. The balconies move from left to right giving it a corkscrew effect. The building sits on a three storey podium.
Unlike other Monarch projects downtown, Lago is aimed for downsizers. Over 10% of the building is over 1,000 sq ft. This also means less investor owned units and more owner occupied units. The suites facing the lake are priced over a million.
The suites sizes range from 367 sq ft to a little over 1400 sq ft. Interior suites feature 9 ft ceilings, a choice of granite or quartz, oversized stainless steel sink, cultured countertops in the bathroom, frameless glass showers, five foot long soaker tub, front loading washer and dryer. I like their attention to detail like single plank hardwood laminate flooring and five inch baseboards with complementary door casings. This adds to the upscale feel of the suite.
The amenities at Lago include a well-equipped gym with a dedicated area for yoga, cardio and aerobics. Lago features an outdoor pool, hot tub and his/her sauna and change rooms, a party room with bob facilities and billiards. Two guests suites.
The environmentally conscious residents like the green roof system and in suite heat pumps. All residents have individually control over hydro and ac to help keep maintenance fees down.
